Last Tuesday night, Linfield nursing students, (from Linfield College School of Nursing in Portland, Oregon) left after 3 hectic and full weeks working with us in the villages and small towns. We will miss them. It seemed as if they just got here...! Over 500 people were assessed, many more to be seen! It was intersting to listen to some of the students' comments about the overwhelming task they faced in the field; this was their first contact with the world, it was a discovery for all of them. Neverthless, their work was very much appreciated both by WEH and by the people they helped. I should add here that besides the Linfield team, there was the Arizona group that teamed up with Linfield to provide care.
We hope that such experience will be repeated by Linfield and others who would like to help because it's of mutual benefit. Linfield nursing students, in such a short time, acquired a valuable experience that they never could have had in their country while many, with conditions that need medical attention, had a chance to have it assessed. We appreciate the work of the Linfield young people.
The inauguration of Barack Obama as the 44th president of the United States of America added a special meaning to our cooperation.
Well, I'll try to keep you up to date on WEH's work with women, orphans and vulnarable children.
